What’s With The Letters of Support?

Objections for all Summit Dockets

As Supporters of Property Rights we must remain principled in our arguments when it comes to those LANDOWNERS that support the CO2 pipelines and/or because of their individual circumstance, are placed in a position where they wish/must sign an easement with Summit, SCS.

During the informational meetings, I appeared and spoke at many of the meetings from Hamilton County to the end of the mtgs in Buena Vista County.  I stressed the important of waiting to sign an easement as their are many years of litigation are ahead and also the importance of standing against eminent domain abuse alongside other landowners whose RIGHTS are being threatened by a private company wished to ‘take’ what is not theirs to take.  We must apply those rights equally with the desire of the landowners, although we all wish they can make that determination later after the law suits play out.

Keep in mind for those that sign an easement, the easements are forever and the courts may not be able to bring you ‘remedy’ as they would for those that go through the eminent domain/condemnation processes.

Now lets speak to all the other folks that support these hazardous liquid CO2 pipelines and support the use of eminent domain to achieve carbon capture and sequestration throughout the midwest but DO NOT have property within the corridor of the proposed pipeline routes!

If these pipeline companies can achieve their goal with voluntary easement, that is one thing but pushing these FRAUD hazardous liquid CO2 pipelines on the will of folks that have absolutely repeatedly over the last three years said a RESOUNDING NO is to subvert and trample the rights of Iowans.

We have been analyzing all the Summit dockets and have seen many letters of objections and few letters of support.  The objections vary but many folks are concerned with safety, the lack of transparency, the abuse of eminent domain and the outright push to build these pipelines under the duress of the American/Iowan Landowners among other issues.

The letters of support are endorsing the trampling of our rights if eminent domain would be used!  It is shameful that corporations exist that will sell out your RIGHTS for corporate interest and financial gain on the back of legacy farmers/landowners.  Don’t you even think about taking their rights away but away with yours if it means corporate gain, advancements for ethanol markets or the very lucrative selling of carbon credit offsets on international markets.

That is a very slippery slope.  Once new precedence is set against individual property rights, we can NOT put the genie back in the bottle.  The pandora box will have opened and the national implications on individual property rights will be on steroids.  All Property will be threatened!

So let’s take a good look at the recent letters of support!

These recent letters of support all come from the American Carbon Alliance whose mission statement is “to form one unified voice for carbon capture pipelines, ethanol producers, …” which is probably why they all sound so similar.

These American Carbon Alliance authors overlap with Concordia Group, a public affairs consultancy that “offers their clientele access to a proven network of businesses and political consulting firms”:

  • Nick Ryan, Founder and CEO

  • Jill Latham Ryan, President  (Looks like family of Iowa Rep Shannon Latham and daughter of former Rep Tom Latham see https://www.facebook.com/jill.latham.5)

  • Zach Harnden, Legislative Assistant again (and sophomore at Simpson College)

Another fun fact about Nick Ryan: He had a recorded address of 400 Locust St #330 , Des Moines Dec’08-Jul’16, as did Kelly Ryan (Will’s mother) Oct’10-Jul’14, which was also the address of American Ag and Energy Council (Iowa SOS Office Business Entity Summary) , a registered non-profit with Bruce Rastetter as Principal (American Ag & Energy Council Announces Formal Organization – NWTN Today)  Officer.

The Council seems to have operated ‘08 through ‘12. Another familiar name in their ‘08 press release was director Chris Schwark, VP of Absolute Energy, St.Ansgar (see CEO Rick Schwark’s Sep 07 2023 filing).

Nothing illegal here but what we do see is support for a PROJECT  that wishes to condemn and ‘take’ in an unconstitutional act that tramples and subverts the rights of hardworking Iowans to benefit Summit Carbon and their affiliates, their investors and many that plan on partaking in the selling of carbon credits or carbon offsets on the international markets,

It is SHAMEFUL! ABHORRENT! UNCONSCIONABLE!

We must stand with the Constitution and We the People Against the tyrannical acts of the quasi judicial body that is the Iowa Utility Commission and the corporations that openly call for the trampling of liberties.

To the Commissioner, how do you want history to remember this moment?  Time to blow the whistle and stand for LIBERTY!  We the People are asking you to STOP the progress of these pipelines and stand for Property Rights against the entanglements of state and federal overreach, Stand for Righteousness, and Stand with the Rule of Law!
