Legal Help for Landowners from Kathy Carter, Landowner

Legal Help for Landowners from Kathy Carter, Landowner
Good morning, Everyone.

I am Kathy Carter,  Summit-threatened landowner in Floyd County.   My property is on the “main”  (Phase I”) line.   I’ve been fighting this proposed project since late 2021.     As always, any questions, feel free to contact me.    515-297-2801  willford21@myomnitel.com

Early on,  many many landowners signed up to be represented by Brian Jorde,  of Domina Law.   The office is based in NE, but Brian is able to represent landowners in Iowa and also in Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota.    He had prior successful experience with pipeline projects and pipeline law,  and that is why he was brought on board.

The legal steps and strategies are way beyond most of us, but Brian has led us through this maze of filings, hearings, court dates, testimonies, motions, briefs….. on and on.   Without his help,  it is quite likely that Summit would’ve had their permit application rubber-stamped and they’d be operational by now.

One of the joys of Brian’s help is  that he does this on a  “cost-shared” basis.  The more people who are signed up for his representation,  the lower the cost for each & every one.

Brian is now taking on new clients,  those of you affected by the “Phase II”  laterals proposals.   On Wednesday of this week – the 25th,  at 6 PM – there will be a zoom meeting to introduce Brian to the folks who are newly-impacted, and he will explain what he can and will do for you.     You can join the zoom via computer or phone.

You may want to research https://www.iaeasement.org/      It will explain some of what’s happening, what’s ongoing, and contains links to webinars & recorded meetings.   Also,  it has a link to a “Landowner Guide”  https://www.iaeasement.org/news/iowa-landowner-guide-to-carbon-pipeline-opposition

This project is most definitely NOT a done deal.   We continue to fight on the ground, in the newspapers,  in the courts, and in the legislatures of these states.    (Incidentally, if you know anyone in South Dakota who can vote, urge them to vote NO on RL21.   That particular law will go a long way toward helping to keep Summit from obtaining permit in SD!

end of Kathy Carter comments…

Thank you Kathy for All You Do to inform others as well as George Cummins with the emails he sends out.

There is zoom mtg held by the Sierra Club every Wednesday and you can contact me at our email for more information or contact Kathy or Jess Directly….  I didn’t want to include it here to avoid spies from the other side.

God Bless you All!

We will fight this together with the help of God Almighty!

Regards,

Robert Nazario
